What changed

The NBA’s 4:45 a.m. Eastern injury report lists Kyrie Irving (left knee injury management), Naji Marshall (illness) and Caleb Martin (right thumb sprain) as questionable for Wednesday night. Sergio de Larrea is out with the right knee sprain he suffered in Miami, Dereck Lively II remains out following right foot surgery, and Santi Aldama and Tarik Biberović are doubtful.

Oklahoma City’s absences are more concentrated at the top of the rotation: Alex Caruso and Chet Holmgren are out, while Cason Wallace and Jalen Williams are beginning long recoveries from a shoulder labral tear and an ankle fracture. Ajay Mitchell, who scored 30 against Phoenix on Monday, is questionable with a right ankle sprain. That is a real opening for Dallas—but not an invitation to relax against a 4–0 team built to survive lineup changes.

OUR INTERPRETATION

Why Dallas fans care

Basketball interpretation: Oklahoma City’s missing defenders and secondary creators should make its rotation less forgiving, but Dallas still has to solve Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and a team that has already won short-handed.
