Biberović wants minutes to come from more than shooting

What changed

Tarik Biberović is not presenting himself as a one-skill roster piece. After Friday’s practice, he said he is trying to add physicality, defense, rebounding, energy and basketball IQ to the shooting Dallas expects from him.

May said Biberović’s defense is farther along than he anticipated. The adjustment is finding shots within a Dallas system that is less structured than the forward’s previous teams in Europe, while adapting to NBA speed and length.

The preseason test is not whether Biberović makes every jumper. It is whether Dallas still functions well with him on the floor when the shot is not immediate. May has not promised him a rotation spot, and Biberović described the competition for minutes as an everyday fight.
