Martin and Biberović join Dallas’ opening-night absences

What changed

Dallas will open without Caleb Martin and Tarik Biberović. The Mavericks listed Martin out with a right thumb sprain and Biberović out with right heel bursitis on Tuesday night.

Those absences are distinct from the longer recoveries of Santi Aldama and Dereck Lively II, who are also out. Martin and Biberović remove two possible wing options from a matchup against a deep, physical Houston roster.

The report does not establish a return date for either player. For opening night, it puts more responsibility on Zaccharie Risacher, Naji Marshall and P.J. Washington to cover the larger perimeter assignments while Dallas manages its frontcourt shortage.
