What changed

Cooper Flagg’s return closed the immediate availability question. After missing Saturday’s home opener with a mild left shoulder sprain, he played 40 minutes Monday in Miami and finished with 29 points, 11 assists and six rebounds.

The injury occurred when Aaron Nesmith fouled Flagg from behind on a breakaway dunk attempt at Indiana. An MRI showed a mild sprain, and Dallas held him out against San Antonio before upgrading him for the Miami game.

His return does not create a broader medical guarantee, but it does replace the earlier open-ended status with an observed outcome: Flagg missed one game, returned to the lineup and handled a full workload in a 113-109 victory.

OUR INTERPRETATION

Why Dallas fans care

Interpretation: the availability event is resolved for the Miami game. Future workload or recurrence should still be judged from official reports rather than assumed from one 40-minute return.
